Our August newsletter comes to you as the industry is in a celebratory mood following the ukactive Awards event on August 12th.
It was wonderful to come together - albeit virtually - to celebrate the achievements of individuals and organisations who, without exception, had shown incredible resilience and spirit.
Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee, said at the closing ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games that the event had seen people across the world “united by emotion, sharing moments of joy and inspiration.” He continued that “This gives us faith in the future. These are the Olympics of hope, solidarity and peace.” While clearly, the ukactive Awards are not on the same scale as the Olympic Games, his sentiments around coming together, shared experiences and it being time to look positively to the future will resonate with our industry.
