Active IQ has been named as headline partner and invited to judge and moderate the Stage 1 assessment of the leisure industry’s prestigious Active Uprising Awards. The Awards are presented across 15 categories and will be celebrated at the illustrious Active Uprising Conference, organised by ukactive, on June 6, 2019.
Active IQ has formed a panel of six judges from across its quality assurance and qualification development teams as they are considered expert in their fields of professional judgements against accepted national benchmarked standards and creating assessment methodologies that are consistent, fair, transparent, valid and comparable across categories. Once all categories have been judged accordingly, for absolute assurance, the very best will be selected for Stage 2 and moderated one more time before other industry experts take the judging forward to the final stage.
“We are delighted to be the expert assessors for Stage 1 judging and look forward to casting our informed eye over the entries,” says Sarah Edmonds, Director of Quality and Standards, Active IQ, who will lead the panel of Active IQ judges. “Awarding organisations are acknowledged experts in making professional judgements and assessing submissions, and highly skilled in establishing that criteria are met,” she says. “Importantly, in the context of these prestigious industry Awards, we are able to recognise and manage bias and are past masters at remaining impartial.”
Active IQ’s involvement with the Awards’ judging is a natural progression from its continued support of the ukactive Active Training Awards conference, which it has sponsored for five years. New for 2019, the Active Training Awards have merged with the Active Uprising Awards, bringing together the entire leisure industry – including workforce training, assessment and delivery of services.
“We know from experience how much effort goes into entering these Awards and it’s vital that every entrant is confident the judging process is transparent, fair and undertaken by experts who have an in-depth understanding and appreciation for the industry,” says Sarah. “It’s an honour to be asked to judge and moderate Stage 1 of the competition. I have no doubt the process will be challenging and the competition tough, as the standard is always very high with excellent initiatives and programmes that show the innovative and progressive work being undertaken in the physical activity sector.”
In addition to its new role as judge and moderator, Active IQ is also the headline partner for the Active Uprising Awards and a sponsor of the Active Workforce strand of the Active Uprising Conference.
