Active IQ is delighted to announce it has been named as a finalist in two significant categories at the FAB Awards, which recognise the contributions made by awarding organisations and their employees to education and skills in the UK over the past year.
Active IQ has been nominated for both Apprentice of the Year, which recognises exceptional individuals who have made remarkable strides in their professional journeys, and Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year, which is awarded to an operator which introduced initiatives demonstrating outstanding commitment to making a positive impact on society.
Apprentice of the Year
Representing Active IQ and partner provider LMP Education is Duriye Gungor, who was nominated for Apprentice of the Year after showcasing her commitment to both personal and professional growth. In 2021, she opened Little Wing's Big Dreams Nursery and at the time, a full and relevant Level 3 qualification was a statutory requirement for Nursery Managers. Despite her entrepreneurial spirit and experience, Duriye faced a daunting challenge when her appointed manager resigned on the very day the nursery opened its doors to the public and she quickly realised the limitations of her knowledge, and the difficulties she encountered in managing her own setting without the required qualification.
Duriye's quest for a flexible and personalised educational experience led her to Active IQ and LMP Education. LMP’s Level 3 qualification not only filled her with knowledge but also instilled in her the confidence to achieve excellence. Her newly acquired skills began to reflect in her day-to-day practices, turning Little Wing's Big Dreams Nursery into her greatest achievement.
"I searched for a qualification that would support me and empower me with knowledge, but still be personal to me. I did not have time to go to college, I have two children of my own and another family business in the background, time is never really on my side!” said Duriye.
“I was very much drawn to the Active IQ qualification with LMP Education, as they provided me with a very personal experience which left me feeling very supported throughout my Level 3 journey and that it was all designed to work and study around my existing work and personal life commitments.”
Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year
Active IQ's 'Healthy People, Healthy Planet' sustainability strategy, was nominated for Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year. ‘Healthy People, Healthy Planet’ outlines an ambitious plan to become a more sustainable business and a carbon-neutral organisation by 2024. Active IQ has made significant progress, reducing its estimated CO2 emissions from 207.46 tonnes in 2019 to 142.66 tonnes in 2022, reflecting its dedication to adopting a more sustainable and responsible approach.
Dave Erasmus, Chairman of carbon management platform, Our Carbon, commented: “Active IQ's nomination for the FAB Awards is a rightful recognition of their deep commitment to carbon responsibility, far beyond mere lip service. Their approach is considered, consistent and clear and focused on deep cultural change in sustainability. At Our Carbon, we take pride in having equipped Active IQ with an approach grounded in transparency and accuracy, guiding their initial steps on this meaningful shift. Their progress serves as an inspiring example for others to follow.”
The winners of the awards will be announced at the FAB 2023 Conference, Exhibition & Awards on 30 November and 1 December 2023 at the Leicester Marriott Hotel. Good luck to all of this year’s finalists.
