EPA Vacancies

Freelance Assessor Vacancies

Active IQ is currently recruiting to expand its team of freelance assessors for its end-point assessment (EPA) service. Vacancies exist within the following apprenticeship standards (with minimum requirements for appointment outlined):


Community Activator Coach – Northern region


  • A minimum of five years’ experience at a senior level in Sports Coaching and their experience must be up to date, i.e., they should still be practising in the field or have left the field no longer than 24 months before taking up their role as independent assessors.
  • Participate in regular Continuing Professional Development to ensure that they so are abreast of changes both in the work of Community Activator Coaches and in assessment practice. This will include ensuring they are articulate and current with areas such as the Coaching Plan for England, the Sport for Development Coalition, International best practice in measuring the impact of sport and physical activity, and the community sport landscape across the UK.

Community Sport Health Officer – Northern region


  • Have a minimum of five years’ experience at a senior level in Sports Development or Community Regeneration and still be practising in the field or have left the field no longer than 24 months.
  • Hold an appropriate assessor qualification and have experience in assessment delivery.

Facilities Management – All regions


  • Have current occupational competence with FM sector (or within last 3 years).
  • Qualified to Level 4 or above with a FM specific – ie BIFM or Dip in Facility Management.
  • Hold an appropriate assessor qualification and have experience in assessment delivery.

Leisure Duty Manager – All regions


  • Have up-to-date and relevant knowledge, understanding and experience of current working practices, infrastructure, technologies and resources appropriate to the leisure duty manager, leisure industry, and the sector and the role covered by the apprenticeship.
  • Current occupational competence of two years or more.

Personal Trainer – Northern regions


  • Hold a personal training qualification at Level 3 or higher and have at least 12 months’ experience of responsibility for the workplace competence assessment of a Personal Trainer.
  • Undertake and record planned and relevant Continuous Professional Development. A minimum of 24 hours per annum is expected covering both vocational and assessment competence.

Leisure Team Member – All regions


  • Have current knowledge and a minimum of 5 years recent occupational competence within the leisure and fitness sector (or within last 3 years).
  • Hold an appropriate relevant qualification associated with the sector.
  • Hold an appropriate assessor qualification and have recent experience in assessment delivery.
  • Undertake and record CPD of a minimum of 3 days per year relevant to your role in the sector.


Applicants must hold an assessor qualification, have proven occupational competence in their chosen field of expertise and should be actively assessing or have recent experience of assessing.
