Empowering change through education, wellbeing and partnership

StrongMen, Future Fit Training, and Active IQ have joined forces in a powerful new initiative to support bereaved men across the UK - by equipping those with lived experience of grief with accredited wellbeing qualifications.

Together, these three organisations are driving real social impact through education, mental health awareness, and fitness - proving that collaboration can be a catalyst for lasting change.

Supporting men through loss: StrongMen’s mission

StrongMen logo At the heart of this initiative is StrongMen, a UK charity dedicated to helping men navigate bereavement. Through peer-led support, weekend retreats, a helpline service, and a growing volunteer network, StrongMen is creating a safe space for men to talk, heal, and reconnect. Every volunteer has experienced loss themselves, making the support they provide deeply empathetic and relatable.

Now, thanks to this partnership, all StrongMen staff and volunteers can access professional training that strengthens their ability to guide others through the recovery process.

Free accredited training from Future Fit Training

Future Fit Training logoFuture Fit Training, the UK’s leading health and fitness education provider, is donating its Wellbeing Coach qualification to 30 StrongMen staff and volunteers - completely free of charge. This qualification empowers the team with the skills to support mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing in others, while also boosting their own confidence and career prospects.

It’s education with purpose - designed for real-world impact.

“Education is a force for change,” says Tom Goodwin, Group Operations Director at Future Fit. “The volunteers and staff are already making a difference - we’re here to help them go even further.”

Accreditation and support from Active IQ

As the awarding organisation behind the Wellbeing Coach qualification, Active IQ is covering all registration and certification fees, ensuring there are zero financial barriers for participants. Their involvement means every learner will receive a nationally recognised, Ofqual-regulated qualification, giving real credibility to the training and greater value to the volunteer work being done.

“We’re incredibly proud to support this initiative,” says Jenny Patrickson, Managing Director at Active IQ. “It’s about empowering people with the right tools - for themselves and their communities.”

A shared vision for impact and growth

This programme marks the start of a long-term collaboration, with ambitions to expand training access, increase volunteer engagement, and inspire more organisations to bridge the gap between mental health, physical activity, and professional development.

“This takes our mission to a whole new level,” says Efrem Brynin, Co-Founder of StrongMen. “Our volunteers and staff are the heartbeat of StrongMen, and this training gives them the tools to turn personal experience into meaningful impact.”
