
Introduction
The Active IQ Principles of Nutrition for Exercise and Health programme of study is a non-regulated programme that supports the essential skills and knowledge required to be able to analyse client’s nutritional habits and to be able to offer healthy eating advice linked to clients’ exercise and lifestyle goals in the Health and Fitness Industry.
This programme of study will enable students to provide clients with accurate and credible information on the principles of nutrition and weight management, referring to a dietitian/nutritionist as necessary.
The purpose of this programme of study is to provide students with the knowledge of healthy eating to analyse their client’s nutritional habits and to be able to offer healthy eating advice linked to their clients’ exercise and lifestyle goals.
- A suitable EuropeActive Level 3 equivalent Gym Instructor qualification or programme of study.
Target students:
- Students aged 16+.
- Students wishing to improve their knowledge of physical activity and wanting to adopt a healthier lifestyle for themselves and influence others to do the same.
- Students considering a career in the active leisure sector.
Students must complete the following programme of study.
- Core knowledge and skills: Principles of nutrition for exercise and health

- Recommended Guided Learning Hours: 8

- Case study
- Assignment
This programme of study provides progression on to:
- Personal Training programmes of study.
- Special population related qualifications or programmes of study.
The programme of study has been partially mapped to the EuropeActive standards for:
- Personal Trainer.
The programme of study has been mapped to the ICREPs:
- Core Standards.
- Personal Trainer Standards.
This programme is not affiliated with Ofqual. This programme is not endorsed by CIMSPA.

- Annual centre recognition fee of £625 exclusive of VAT will also apply.
Training/education providers based outside the UK who wish to have their training programmes accredited (endorsed) by Active IQ must complete an application form and submit accompanying evidence. All international programme accreditations must map to one of the EuropeActive Professional Standards, aligned to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) or ICREPs standards where they exist. Details of these are listed in the application form, and programme content must map to Active IQ’s international programme specifications.
(NB. If an applicant wishes to seek EuropeActive endorsement, they are responsible for submitting their application independently from this process).
